One Small Bite

The excitement is growing here at Kingsmuir Press with our newest novel due out in just days!  We are jumping the final hurdles with editors and production managers and expect to have it available to order by Tuesday!  The novel we are so excited about is One Small Bite by R.J. Hanrahan.  If you like Fifty Shades of Gray type naughty novels only with vampires, then this is the book for you.  This novel cannot be neatly pigeonholed into one specific category, it’s drama, with romance and a little erotica for those looking for a little more spice.

Look for it this week on Amazon and Barnes and Noble, should be out on all e-readers in the next week.  Here’s the back cover teaser:

Pemberthy Parker grew up having very little in her lower middle class community, but from these humble beginnings emerges the woman destined to be Queen. At first, it seems like a dream that one day she will return to her mother’s kingdom and her vampire coven as it’s ruler. Pem’s mother left the coven and married a mortal many years ago to avoid her own arranged marriage to King Vitale, a man she did not love.

She did not, however, escape the King’s indignant wrath. Desperate to keep the crown in the Urbino family, the king on his death, arranged the betrothal of Pem and his cousin Fortuno. Now Pem finds herself the victim of an elaborate intrigue, in a world that is completely foreign to her. She has been betrayed by her own mother and her husband has been executed, she fears for the life of her son after the courts annul her marriage and declare her son a bastard. It is only then that she finds she is merely a pawn in a much larger plot by the Milan family in their relentless quest for power.

The players in this drama are not only driven by their insatiable thirst for power but they have been cursed for many centuries by their primitive cravings for blood and lust. In their quest to satisfy their ancient cravings, this vampire coven takes naughty to a whole new level. Their bodies crave satisfaction and they will get it in any way they can. This is the story of seduction, power and lust, and the intricate web which entwines these things in a kingdom where there is no ‘happily ever after’.

Back to School!

The kids are back to school, so now it’s time for mom to have her very own little escape.  What better and cheaper way to escape than with a fabulous fall read?  Reading can take you far away to another land, to another life, make you laugh, cry or just escape reality for a little while.  Kingsmuir Press is here to help you find your perfect back to school break from reality.

Check out Lyoness Bradley’s Imperfect World.  This story begins in the late 70’s in an upper middle class high school dealing with court ordered school desegregation.  Leigh Webster struggles through her senior year facing the challenges brought by the influx of desegregation students and extremely overbearing parents, not to mention the fact that her father is their high school principal.

With college looming ahead Leigh is pushed towards the “right guy” while secretly loving a guy who her parents would never, ever approve of.  As life plunges ahead Leigh follows the path of least resistance but when tragedy strikes, she finds herself once again, face to face with the man she once loved.  This is one of those stories that will leave you asking, does God have a master plan for us, or was all this really just a coincidence?

Our second author Jean Marie Stanberry has a whole host of books that we love.  Her newest book Heartless-A Star is Dead is an epic murder mystery that will leave you positively breathless.  The brutal murder of an aging Hollywood movie star has detective Doug Bellamy stumped.  Between the troubling lack of evidence and her severely dysfunctional family.  When he finally finds a break in the evidence he must coordinate a desperate nationwide search for the murderer who has a final victim in their sights.  Can they get to the intended victim before the murderer exacts one final act of revenge?

Also check out Jean’s epic coming of age tale, The Illusion of Order. This book has rapidly become one of the most popular books in the UK and for good reason.  Everyone loves a feel good story and this book is no exception.  It will prove to you, that once you’ve hit rock bottom, the only way to go is up!  Brits still adore following the lives of their noble families and when there is a scandal it makes it all that much better.  This book will give you scandal on a silver platter. Sure those noble families look perfect in their family photo shoots, but what’s really going on behind the scenes?  That’s the “Illusion of Order”.

Finally, coming soon for you lovers of naughty vampires we have R. J. Hanrahan’s One Small Bite.  This ancient vampire dynasty has two families struggling for control of the crown and they will do whatever it takes to return it to their own family.  This sweeping drama transports young Pemberthy Parker from her lower middle class life in the late 70’s to a mediaeval castle far away where she learns she is of noble blood and she soon  finds herself embroiled in an elaborate intrigue to return the throne to a family who lost their rights to the crown years ago.

Pem finds herself to be merely a pawn in a society with ancient rules and customs she really doesn’t understand. She must struggle to fit into this new life within a society of vampires who have powers and desires that she can’t even really understand at first.  If you know anything about vampires you know that not only do they crave blood, but they have other “cravings” that must be satisfied and they will do just about anything to satisfy their lust.  It is these “cravings’ that will eventually lead to the downfall of the royal family.

That’s four great reads you must put on your list.  Take a little “me” time, escape the real world for a while with a fabulous book.  Check out these and all our great titles available on Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble.com and select privately owned bookstores.  These books are also available on all major e-readers and top e-reader lending sites.

Blood, Sweat and Fears-Video Trailer

The video trailer for Jean Marie Stanberry’s newest book, “Blood, Sweat and Fears.

When people lose faith they become hopeless, after hopelessness comes desperation. At this point, there is nothing left to lose. Herein lies the danger.

The year is 1980 and tensions are running high in communist USSR. When one man develops an elaborate plan to defect to the USA, no one can anticipate how quickly passion will deteriorate into obsession and desperation will escalate into a grim web of deception and violence.

A Blockbuster Book Release

Sending out congratulations to our fabulous author, Jean Marie Stanberry.  Her newest book “Blood, Sweat and Fears” was officially released on May 1 with very little fanfare, but sales were still brisk placing it at #5 in Kindle sales for the day of release.  It topped the sales not only in the US, but also Brazil and Great Britain.

“Blood, Sweat and Fears” was originally slated to release in December, but it’s debut was held up by our legal department.  After the decision was made to put the brakes on “Blood” we made the decision to release “The Illusion of Order” instead, which was meant to be the second book of the “Heart of a Phoenix” series.  “Blood, Sweat and Fears” was reworked and written from the dual perspectives of both clashing main characters and it was approved for release.  If you have not yet read “The Illusion of Order” you might want to read “Blood, Sweat and Fears” first, but it is not necessary as all Jean’s books stand alone brilliantly.

“Blood, Sweat and Fears” is a dramatic tale of one young woman’s betrayal and exploitation by her own parents as she is thrown into life in the fast lane, too young and clueless to be completely on her own, far away in a foreign country where she knows no one and barely speaks the language.

Unfortunately, her parents aren’t the only one’s determined to exploit her for their own purposes.   A co worker hailing from communist USSR has arrived in Paris with his own elaborate plan in place.  A plan that if executed correctly,  will allow him to defect to the United States.  Unfortunately, things don’t always go according to plan…

I am completely certain you will enjoy Jean’s riveting new book.  This novel is not ideal for young teens as it does contain some sex and graphic violence.  I believe all others will find this book is hard to put down.

Blood, Sweat and Fears

Coming soon, the book that was originally intended to be the first in the “Heart of a Phoenix” series.  This book was so controversial, it made our lawyers very nervous.  Luckily, they are over it, so once the editors have given their final blessing, it will be available in paperback and on all major e-readers.  This book is the prequel to “The Illusion of Order”, so if you haven’t read it yet, this is your chance to read them in their logical order.

“Blood, Sweat and Fears is a gripping drama about an Olympic gold medalist from the Soviet Union who is desperate to defect to the US and begin a new life.  When he lands a position skating in Europe’s most famous ice show, he thinks he’s just gotten his lucky break.

Unfortunately, things don’t go as planned, and as his plans crumble, he becomes involved in a desperate battle of wills with a fellow cast member.  Will his manipulation tactics work, or will his desperation lead to his own destruction?
