Adventures in International Travel

I love to travel but unfortunately, I can’t really claim to be a savvy, well seasoned, traveler.  Even with the host of wonderful travel experiences I have chalked up, I have to admit that in the past, I’ve been more of a passenger, than a true explorer.

Having a lot of miles under my belt and a remote familiarity with Scotland is how I imagine I underestimated how truly naive I am.  This is a big year for me and my husband Gary, in June we will celebrate 25 years of marriage.  My husband and I have never been big on exchanging gifts.  I guess we were, early in our marriage, but soon we realized that it was better for us to each just buy ourselves what we wanted instead of relying on our spouse to magically read our minds and get us something we would be thrilled with.  Instead, we began the tradition of saving our money for a nice vacations.  We both work very hard and having time away from our home and jobs was a welcome relief. Nepal in Need

After a devastating earthquake and several subsequent aftershocks much of the country of Nepal is in shambles.  Thousands have been killed and many more injured.  Search and rescue teams have recovered many injured people and they are now on the road to recovery, but over the next month Nepal’s dire needs will disappear from the World’s radar and people will forget that there are many people there that are now homeless and struggling merely to survive.

Kingsmuir Press is proud to announce that two of it’s authors have boldly stepped forward to help these people in their time of need.  Authors Jean Marie Stanberry and Lyoness Bradley have both offered to donate all proceeds from the sales of select books in the month of May to the relief effort in Nepal.

Here’s what you can do to help.  Go to your favorite online retailer and purchase any of the following books before May 31st and Kingsmuir Press and the book’s author will donate their share of the sale to the relief efforts in Nepal.  This offer applies to both paperback and e-books.  We are excited to do what we can to help in this very unfortunate situation.  Get  yourself a sweet summer read or two and help the relief efforts.  It’s a win-win situation!

Dr. Oz, Love him? Hate him?

Dr. Oz is the newest victim of a deadly media frenzy. The intent of the media lately seems to be just to stir up enough frenzy to destroy the life of whomever it is currently focused on.  Currently the physicians at Columbia seem hell bent on getting Dr. Oz off the staff at their facility.  Dr. Oz is a skilled surgeon with a proven track record, yet their focus is on the “alternative” treatments he pitches on his show, which they are claiming are not science based. I found myself so engrossed in this book I couldn’t set it down and I definitely didn’t expect the surprise at the ending, but it totally brought me to tears. If you love mystery, action and adventure, this is definitely the book for you! I think it would make a fabulous movie!-Carol Ann Daughtery

Success is not an “Illusion”

Thanks to our loyal UK fans, Jean Marie Stanberry’s third book, “The Illusion of Order” has been enjoying quite a bit of success in the UK lately.  Well, why wouldn’t it?  This well written romp combines a delightfully unexpected romance with the UK sport of Royal watching.  The fascination with the monarchy doesn’t end at the palace gates.  The royal family has all sorts of distant and not so distant relatives who are titled and therefore expected to conduct themselves as thus.  Though their misjudgments and sometimes public drama have always been a spectator sport for those living in the UK.

I don’t consider myself Democrat or Republican, I used to have a strong opinion, but both parties have grown so corrupt, I feel it’s time to get rid of both of them and start over again.  I can barely navigate through Facebook anymore without encountering hostile messages, each party condemning the other.

How about working for the common good of our country instead of constantly slandering the other party?  Our country is falling behind fast and unless we take action soon our own nation will be considered a third world nation while other countries will prosper and become the world powers of the world.
